In this project I need to measure 5 objects and convert their length into my own body parts. First I will work out the lengths of my objects, then do some division and multiplication to work out the length in my body parts and dimensions. For each of the 5 items I need 3 different measurments. I will then present this information. I am very confident in my plan of attack, as my calculations are accurate. They are accurate because, I have used a calculator to check my work and I have visually worked my results out. For example I am certain that 38.7 divided by 14.5 equals 2.668965517 or approximatly 2.7 and I have measured it with my hand. The unit 14.5 is equivelent to my Hand Span. While measuring the object, my Hand Span fit on it around 2 and a half times, also leading me to believe my calculations. All in all I am very confident in this plan. Here are my dimensions:
Finger The width of your index finger 2.0cm
Nail The width of your thumb nail 1.0cm
Inch The width of your thumb 1.8cm
Half Finger Fingertip to middle of the second joint on your middle finger 4.7cm
Finger Length Fingertip to the middle of knuckle on middle finger 8.0cm
Palm/Hand Width of 4 extended fingers, measured at the knuckles 10.3cm
Hand Length Distance between the fingertip of your middle finger and the 18.3cm
heel of your hand
Hand Span Hand width, when extended, from tip of thumb to tip of middle finger 14.5cm
Foot Length of foot, from heel to toe 24.8cm
Cubit Length from elbow to finger tip 38.7cm
Yard Distance from nose to fingertips, facing forward 64.0cm
Fathom Fingertip to fingertip, arms stretched out 160.1cm
Height Your Height 164.2cm
Step One step 118.2cm
Pace Two steps 236.4cm

In Conclusion I have found that these types of measurments are not always accurate. For instacnce everyone is different and have different lengths and sizes, so this is not the best way to measure something. Humans under 24 years of age are still growing so their sizes can be completely different in about 1 year. I see why we now have different unit systems like the Metric and Imperial systems that are all the same and equal even in other countries. Today the most common system is the Metric, as can be seen in the graph. The American system of measurment is the Imperial, whilst ROW is the Metric system.
